EPA unveils final rules for the Clean Power Plan

On August 3, 2015 the President and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (“EPA”) unveiled the final rules for the “Clean Power Plan”. The Final Plan requires states to meet specific carbon emission reduction standards, based on their individual energy consumption. The Final Plan includes numerous changes based on public comment from the original plan released more than a year ago. The Plan provides greater flexibility through interim targets and options for rate and mass based reduction targets.
