Avery is an associate attorney with Ellison Schneider Harris & Donlan LLP. Avery’s practice focuses on energy law and regulatory advising. Avery represents independent generators and load-serving entities in administrative law matters before the California Public Utilities Commission, the California Energy Commission, the California Independent System Operator, and California Air Resources Board. Avery advises clients in a variety of energy transactions including compliance with California’s Renewables Portfolio Standard, Resource Adequacy, and Cap-and-Trade Programs. Avery also advises clients on interconnection matters at the California Independent System Operator.
Prior to joining Ellison Schneider Harris & Donlan, Avery clerked at the California Public Utilities Commission, and the UC Davis Policy Institute for Energy, Environment, and the Economy as a legal fellow, as well as several law firms.
At UC Davis Law, Avery was a Co-Editor-In-Chief of Environs - UC Davis Law's Environmental Law and Policy Journal, the founder of the Renewable Energy Law Society, the Internal Competitions Chair of the Moot Court Honors Board, and published a research paper on agrivoltaics with the Environmental Law Reporter.
